CEMOSA has been awarded the service contract for Technical Assistance Control in Health and Safety in the works of the Road Services of the Provincial Council of Cordoba (2020 – 2022).

CEMOSA will carry out a series of works in the field of Health and Safety consultancy, an area in which it has almost 20 years of experience. These works will consist firstly in the drafting of a Basic Health and Safety Study, as well as the subsequent drafting and supervision of Health and Safety Studies for these works. CEMOSA will also be in charge of coordinating the project in this field during the design phase and the execution of the works.

The award amounts to 90,308.35 euros including VAT and the duration of the contract is 2 years, with the possibility of renewal.

Pozoblanco North-West Bypass Project (Córdoba)

CEMOSA has been awarded the contract for the “DRAFTING OF THE PROPOSAL AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE POZOBLANCO NORTHWEST BY-PASS BETWEEN THE A-3177 AND A-423 ROADS”, for the Department of Development, Infrastructures and Territorial Planning of the Regional Government of Andalusia.

The purpose of the project is to give continuity to the existing Pozoblanco bypass and connect it with the A-3177 road. This will complete the connection with the road network to Pozoblanco, increasing accessibility from the north, which is very important for access to Pozoblanco Hospital, which provides health care for the whole of the Valle de los Pedroches region.

This action would complete the population variation, executed by the Junta de Andalucía in 2008, allowing the total elimination of crossings and resolving the road conflict in the urban environment.

Happy World Creativity and Innovation Day!

Since 2007, CEMOSA has an R&D&I department. We are highly committed to this area, as it is of vital importance to acquire knowledge through the necessary human and economic resources, establishing an R&D policy and defining objectives that are reviewed every year.

In order to provide value to the client and to society in general, we want our technical staff to be in permanent training, through continuous participation in R&D&I projects.

CEMOSA’s concern for continuous development has been recognised and valued with grants from Public Administrations: European Union (7th Framework Programme, H2020 programme), Spanish Government (CDTI, Ministry of Industry) and the Andalusian Regional Government (Junta de Andalucía). Others have been financed by clients or by CEMOSA itself. In addition, we have held the UNE 166002:2014 Standard Certificate “R&D&I Management: R&D&I Management System Requirements” since 2009.

Our R&D&I development areas include Transport Infrastructures (innovative infrastructure design, intelligent maintenance, advanced motorisation and impact assessment) and Building and Energy Efficiency (Integration of renewable energy systems in buildings, building refurbishment with advanced materials, projects based on Building Information Modelling, technologies for smart grids and smart cities).

These images accompanying this publication are from the University of Malaga demonstrator within the ebalanceplus project, coordinated by CEMOSA, where new technologies for smart grids have been demonstrated.

CEMOSA signs the contract for the drafting of projects with the Port of Gijón

CEMOSA has been awarded the contract for Technical Assistance for the Drafting of Projects promoted by the Port Authority of Gijón (APG).

The works related to the projects to be drafted will be related to different fields of action, such as railway works, levelling and paving, maritime works, electrical installations, underwater works… CEMOSA’s work will require the collection and obtaining of the necessary information in order to execute the project and the proposal of optimal solutions to carry it out. For this, CEMOSA will have to analyse, among other things, the climatology, hydrology and hydrodynamics of the site.

Specifically, the possible actions to be undertaken include the renovation of the railway tracks, the paving of docks, esplanades, floating beams and other facilities for loading equipment, the repair of buildings and warehouses, the reinforcement of tunnels and slope support.

The contract is worth 78,202.26 euros including VAT and the works began in March.

The widening of the Inter-American Highway between Limonal and Cañas continues (Costa Rica)

The extension and rehabilitation works of the National Route 1 (North Inter-American Highway) between Limonal and Cañas, whose Supervision is under the responsibility of the “Consorcio Ruta Nº1-CR-Limonal-Cañas” led by CEMOSA, continue progressing in its construction after the technical definition of the Limonal Interchange, one of the most significant elements of the project, besides having reached a notable progress in the placement of the concrete pavement that will serve as a roadbed for the definitive carriageways.

Paver and pedestrian walkway

The execution of this 20.8 km long section between the Costa Rican towns of Limonal and Cañas represents an important improvement for the connectivity of the northern part of the country, especially for the province of Guanacaste, with an investment by the MOPT (Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Republic of Costa Rica) and the IDB (Inter-American Development Bank) of more than $100 million.

Its development includes the construction of 6 vehicular bridges, 2 subways, 1 interchange and 7 pedestrian footbridges, as well as other elements such as wildlife crossings, return roads, marginal roads, etc.

Construction of Javillos Bridge

The project is currently over 60% complete, and the works are scheduled for completion by the end of November 2021.

CEMOSA carries out the hydrogeological-geotechnical study of several schools (Aspe, Alicante)

For more than two decades, the residents of the town of Aspe (Alicante) have been suffering the inconvenience caused by the pathologies of the foundations in the area of the municipality where its four educational centres are located, especially the Villa de Aspe Secondary School.

In this context, CEMOSA was awarded the contract for “HYDROGEOLOGICAL-GEOTECHNICAL STUDY SERVICES IN THE VILLA DE ASPE HIGH SCHOOL AND ITS SURROUNDINGS”.

The pathologies of the foundations of this school hinder the normal development of educational activities. CEMOSA has focused all its efforts on finding out the origin of these pathologies, which include subsidence, tilting, cracks of various types, collapsed areas and damage to expansion joints, among others. To this end, an exhaustive reconnaissance was carried out on the existing historical area photography from 1945 to the present day, thus allowing a reliable knowledge of the geomorphological evolution of the study area to be obtained. Likewise, one of CEMOSA’s star services has been carried out, a geotechnical campaign (mechanical soundings with core recovery, DPSH dynamic penetrations, reconnaissance test pits, presiometric tests) which has allowed us to know the exact geotechnical characteristics of the ground being founded.

Following the study of the terrain, a close correlation was found between the most damaged areas and those with the greatest thickness of anthropic fill underneath them, and it is in these areas where a deeper foundation will be necessary.

CEMOSA proposes a discretisation into three different zones of action:

  • Firstly, Zone A, occupied by the current sports courts of the centre, is the area of greatest geotechnical conflict and is where the anthropic fills reach the maximum thickness; 19 metres.
  • On the other hand, Zone B, where the optimum solution is to replace the first 2 metres with a granular material that will significantly mitigate the deformations of the terrain.
  • Finally, Zone C, which represents the sector with the smallest anthropic fill thicknesses (2-4 metres).

After the study, CEMOSA delivered the hydrogeological-geotechnical evaluation report to the Aspe Town Council, with all the proposed solutions to improve the facilities of this educational centre.

All these actions and executions were publicly presented during the presentation of the project by CEMOSA in the town of Aspe, which was attended by technical staff from the Town Council, representatives of the Generalitat Valenciana and various local and independent media.
